Pay-by-phone will be extended to all parking spaces at the Elizabeth Terminal, St Helier Harbour as from 01 January 2021, removing the need for scratch cards, which will no longer be an accepted form of payment.
Pay-by-phone is now a well-established practice across the Island and this change will make it faster and easier for drivers who will no longer be restricted on the amount of time they park their vehicle for. In addition, if the driver wishes to extend their stay, even when off-island, there is no need to return to the car park to update their payment; they simply key in the additional payment via their mobile phone App. It also forms part of Ports of Jersey’s long-term ambition to go ‘cashless’ and introduce, in due course, additional online payment options for its customers.
The Elizabeth Terminal car park is accessible 24 hours at a daily charge of 87 pence per hour, including Bank Holidays between the hours of 8am-8pm.
In a similar move, the 20 public car parking spaces along the northern arm of St Aubin’s Harbour, which are administered by Ports of Jersey will also become pay-by-phone only as from 01 January 2020. The charge is 87 pence for 2 hours, applicable Monday to Saturday between the hours of 8am and 5pm. It is free to park in this area on Sundays.
