States Annual Report and Accounts 2022 Published

May 05, 2023

• The 2022 Accounts show all borrowing related to COVID-19 has been repaid

• Income was better than anticipated and expenditure lower than estimated

• General Revenues exceeded £1 billion for the first time.

The Government has today published the States of Jersey Annual Report and Accounts for 2022.

The report contains a wide variety of information on the performance and finances of the entities within the States of Jersey Group. The Performance Report provides a breakdown of the activities and initiatives carried out by Government departments and shows how taxpayers' money has been utilised.

The Chief Minister, Deputy Kristina Moore, said: “I am grateful to everyone across the public service for the work that has been achieved since we came to office in July 2022. This report clearly demonstrates that we have made rapid progress in delivering and initiating necessary change across Government and to support our community.

“2022 was a year of change for Jersey, and one that will sadly be remembered for the tragedies that impacted our community in December.

“Our new Government Programme, which includes our Strategic Priorities, Government Plan, Ministerial Plans and Delivery Plans ensures that the public have a clear framework against which to hold us accountable, as we strive to reach our overarching goal of creating a community where everyone can thrive.”

Minister for Treasury and Resources, Deputy Ian Gorst, said: “I am pleased to present the 2022 Accounts, which show that we are making continuing progress on long-term finance sustainability and stability. Income was better than anticipated, expenditure lower than estimated and borrowing relating to Covid has been completely repaid.

“However, we still face many financial pressures and need to return to prudence and live within our means. Islanders want to see that they are getting value for money for the tax contributions that they are making, which is why this report also makes clear that the new government has set out a four-year programme focused on targeted Value for Money Reviews and efficiencies.”
