Postponed: 2% Social Security Reduction Debate

A temporary reduction to Social Security contributions was due to be debated by the States Assembly today. This debate has since been postponed until after the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (rescheduled for 20 September).

The 2% reduction is intended to increase Islanders' take-home pay for the remainder of 2022. Therefore, if the reduction is approved by the Assembly next week, it must still be applied to your employees' contributions from 1 October 2022 (so that they can realise the benefit as soon as possible).
