Port Access for Russian Vessels

Please find statement below, signed off by Minister for External Relations, Senator Ian Gorst:

  • Today, 1 March, the UK Secretary of State for Transport, Rt. Hon Grant Shapps MP, announced that Russian vessels will be blocked from accessing all UK ports. Specifically, any vessels that are:
    • Owned, controlled, chartered, or operated by any person connected with Russia
    • Owned, controlled, chartered or operated by Designated Persons
    • Flying the Russian flag
    • Registered in Russia
  • In line with the UK’s position, Jersey will also be adopting these new restrictions. We are working closely with the UK to share intelligence, and to assist in identifying Russian vessels that fall within the scope of the above.
  • Officers from Ports of Jersey will be communicating this update with mariners later today.
