• Higher Education Fair will take place at Hautlieu School on16 March
• Students from all schools and Islanders of all ages can find out more about the opportunities available
Islanders will once again be able to find out more about the opportunities to study on-Island, in the UK and further afield at the Higher Education Fair. The event – which is sponsored by the Aztec Group - will take place on Thursday 16 March between 3.30pm and 6pm at Hautlieu School.
Representatives from over 35 universities will attend the event and students can also learn about alternative routes, including apprenticeships.
Although the Fair is aimed at students making their university decisions, it is open to Islanders of all ages who are looking to return to education, or who want to find out more about the opportunities available.
In the run up to the Higher Education Fair, schools will be hosting talks from university to allow students to speak directly to representatives. All attendees will also receive a copy of REACH magazine which contains more information on Higher Education. A digital copy is available on the Skills Jersey webpage.
Rosie Tonner, Recruitment Manager at Aztec Group, said: “At the Aztec Group we offer full support to study for a professional qualification, while also providing an opportunity for young people to start and progress their career.
“We have a social, fun and supportive culture and our Trainee Programme, Aztec Aspire, allows young people to join a cohort of diverse, like-minded individuals on similar career journeys so you can progress together. We look forward to providing an alternative route for students after college.”
Jeremy Field, Education Liaison and Skills Coach Manager at Skills Jersey said: “Choosing the right higher education course can seem daunting. There are lots of things to consider, including location, type of course and length of study.
“The Higher Education Fair gives students and Islanders the opportunity to have face-to-face conversation with representatives from the institutions, and ask the important questions they need to make an informed decision.”
Minister for Children and Education, Deputy Inna Gardiner, said: “The Higher Education Fair has given generations of Islanders the chance to find out more about all the options that are open to them, including university study, or apprenticeships.
“It’s absolutely vital that students have access to information about all their options and understand how higher education can shape their future careers, whether they study on-Island or off-Island .”
