Co-Funded Payroll Scheme Recommendations Accepted

Aug 18, 2022

The Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel has received a letter from the Minister for Treasury and Resources confirming that five of the recommendations in the previous Panel’s report on the Co-Funded Payroll Scheme have been accepted after a review of the original response.

All six recommendations were rejected by the previous Minister for Treasury and Resources, however, all but one of these recommendations have now been accepted after the Panel requested that the current Minister, Deputy Ian Gorst, review his predecessor’s response.

In its review of the Co-Funded Payroll Scheme, established to support businesses adversely affected by the pandemic, the previous Panel found that Islanders who provided information in good faith had received unexpected requests for repayments and felt unduly accused by the communication of repayment demands.

Chair of the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel, Deputy Sam Mézec said: “The Panel is grateful to the Minister for reviewing his predecessor’s response and is pleased to note the reconsidered position on the recommendations, especially in relation to recommendations that were previously rejected. We hope that businesses will welcome this change in position.”
