Kristina Moore Elected as Chief Minister

Deputy Kristina Moore of St Mary, St Ouen and St Peter was elected as Chief Minister at the first official meeting of the new States Assembly today.

Deputy Kristina Moore received 39 votes in favour and her opposing candidate Deputy Sam Mézec received 10 votes in favour.

Before votes were cast, both candidates made a statement outlining their strategic vision for Jersey and how they would act as Chief Minister. This was followed by 1 hour of questions from States Members.

Kristina Moore will officially take on the role of Chief Minister when the Council of Ministers is elected by the States Assembly at next week’s States Meeting, Monday 11 July. This meeting will also see the Chairs of Scrutiny Panels and Committees elected by the States Assembly.
