Young People Encouraged to #AskTheMinisters

Nov 19, 2021

Young people are being encouraged to take the opportunity to pose their questions to Ministers ahead of the next instalment of the ‘Ask the Ministers’ live panel sessions, which will take place on Wednesday 24th November.

The session, which will for the first time feature a live audience consisting of members from the Jersey Youth Parliament, will be live-streamed on the Government’s social media channels from 19.00 – 20.30.

Jennifer Carnegie, President of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce, will be co-hosting the session alongside two members of the Jersey Youth Parliament, posing questions to the Ministerial panel, which will consist of:

  • Minister for Children and Education, Assistant Chief Minister – Deputy Scott Wickenden
  • Minister for International Development, Assistant Chief Minister – Deputy Carolyn Labey
  • Minister for Home Affairs, Assistant Minister for the Environment – Deputy Gregory Guida
  • Minister for Health & Social Services – Deputy Richard Renouf
  • Assistant Minister for Children and Education and for Health and Social Services – Deputy Trevor Pointon

The Minister for Children & Education, Deputy Scott Wickenden, commented:

“This live session is the perfect opportunity for young Islanders to engage with Ministers and ask questions on the topics that are important to them. We are delighted that members of the Jersey Youth Parliament will also be in attendance, and given the composition of the panel, I am sure the key topics facing our young Islanders will be raised.

“I would encourage other young members of our community to watch live on our social media channels, send their questions in, or ask live on the night through Slido”.

Members of the public can put their questions to the panel live by visiting Slido.com and using the code #AskTheMinisters. Islanders are also encouraged to send their video questions directly to [email protected].
