Scam Warning for Islanders Following Incident at Pier Road

Dec 16, 2022

There have been reports of a scam relating to the recent incident at Pier Road. Scammers are pretending to be from a local bank seeking a donation to an appeal for those affected. These calls are not from a local bank but from scammers.

We urge islanders to remain vigilant, and if you would like to donate to make sure that the appeal is legitimate. You can do this by:

• Using the Jersey register of charities to verify the charity is legitimate.

• Ignoring requests to donate through a money transfer company, keeping records of your donations and donating through your credit card.

• Remembering that if a phone call or text comes from a local area code, it doesn't mean that it is legitimate.

If you believe you have been targeted, contact a member of the Jersey Fraud Prevention Forum, or the police on 612 612.
