Environment Committee

Protecting our Enviroment

In an era where Government is lifting all things Environmental up the political agenda, “Protecting and Valuing our Environment” is one of its five Common Strategic Priorities, it is essential through the Environment Committee of Chamber engages not only with the broad Chamber membership but with the appropriate areas of Government as all sorts of issues and policies will inevitably have huge impacts on each individual and organisation.

The island is currently in the middle of a full consultation on the next iteration of a much more broadly based Island Plan and the States Assembly has declared in May 2019 a “Climate Emergency” and adopted a proposition for Jersey to become “Carbon Neutral” by 2030. To this end a Carbon Neutral Strategy and a Sustainable Transport Policy were lodged at the turn of the year which are due to be debated by the Assembly shortly. Other policies and initiatives are also inevitably going to be brought forward in short measure.
