Vote.je - ARE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE IN MAY 2018?

Wednesday 7 March 15:28

The Parishes and vote.je will be sending out 48,000 letters this week to let Islanders know if they are on the electoral register and can vote in the elections this May.

“When you receive a letter please check that everyone who lives with you and who is eligible to vote appears on it” said Lisa Hart, Deputy Greffier of the States. “If anyone is missing, please contact your Parish or go on line at Vote.je/Register and sign up. It only takes a few minutes and means that you will be able to vote in May”.

“Voting in Jersey is not limited to those who are Jersey born. Every person aged 16 years or more who has been here for the last 2 years or who has lived in Jersey for the last 6 months but a total of 5 years before can vote in our elections” said Connétable Len Norman, Chairman of the Privileges and Procedures Committee and the Comité des Connétables. “Each letter will list the names of every person living at that address who is already eligible to vote but if your name is not listed please take a few minutes to register this month. Getting on the register before noon on Monday 9th April is important as it will allow you to vote at the pre poll stations before Election day or on 16 May at your parish polling station”.

Now that Jersey has online registration it couldn’t be easier to sign up to vote. If your name is missing from the letter or you do NOT receive a letter, contact your Parish or go online at vote.je/register. The letters also contain information about where you need to go to vote and the various ways you can cast your vote on or before 16th May 2018.
