Register Before Noon on Friday to be able to Pre Poll Vote!
Thursday 5 April 16:47
Islanders wishing to vote BEFORE 16th May 2018 need to get on the electoral register before noon on Monday 9th April.
A pre-poll voting station will be open in St Helier for anyone who wants to vote in the 2 weeks leading up to election day, but you have to be on the electoral register by Monday 9th if you want to be able to use it.
Deputy Greffier Lisa Hart said “If it is easier and more convenient for you to vote earlier than 16th May 2018 you don’t need a specific reason. You can simply go to the pre-poll station in town during the working week or one of the out of town venues on Saturday 5th or Saturday 12th May.”
“We all lead busy lives and it’s not always easy to get to your Parish Hall or district polling station on election day. Pre-poll allows everyone to vote in one place. No matter where you live you can vote at St Paul’s before May 16th if that suits you better – but you need to be registered before 9th April!”
If you are 16 or over and have lived in Jersey for either the last 2 years, or the last 6 months (plus any other period(s) which total 5 years) then you can register to vote in the election, irrespective of your nationality. Registration is now very easy - you can access the online register via the My Parish Online website or through a link on vote.je.
Pre-polling for all Islanders will be open at St Paul’s Gate in New Street, St Helier from 8.30am to 5.15pm Monday 30th April until 2pm on Monday 14th May 2018. Closed Bank Holiday Monday 7th May and Liberation Day Wednesday 9th May 2018.
Weekend pre-poll stations will also be available for all Islanders at Trinity Youth Centre from 10am-1pm on Saturday 5th May 2018 and Communicare, St Brelade from 10am-1pm on Saturday 12th May 2018.
