Programme Revealed for Jersey Architecture Biennale 2015

Friday 24 July 07:59

The Association of Jersey Architects (AJA) has announced the full schedule of the Jersey Architecture Biennale 2015 (JAB15), a weeklong celebration of Jersey Architecture and Design taking place between 14th and 18th September.

JAB15 will deliver a diverse programme of events centred round the theme of ‘Celebrating Jersey Architecture and Planning’. The week highlights the positive contribution Jersey-based Chartered Architects and Jersey Planning have made to the enhancement of the Island’s built and natural environment over the last 50 years.

Events include the 2015 Jersey Architecture Design Awards Exhibition, world-first presentations from the shortlist of the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize, an exploration of Jersey’s part to play in financing major capital projects such as The Shard, a £480 million project funded entirely through Jersey by the Qatari developers, and walking tours of St Helier’s key architectural sites.

Derek Mason, President of the AJA, commented:

“I’m delighted to officially announce the full schedule of JAB15, a programme that has been carefully designed to appeal to a cross-section of Islanders and international visitors. The week’s events will be a real showcase of Jersey’s contribution to promoting excellence in international architecture, alongside providing unique opportunities to hear speakers who are truly world-class.”
