GCSE statistical report

Monday 20 February 09:30

The latest statistical report from the Education Department is released today and provides an analysis of the island’s GCSE results for the 2015-16 academic year.

The main points are:

English and maths (A*-C)

More students in Jersey achieve A* to C grades in both English and maths than in England. Here it’s 65.7%. In England it’s 59.3%

Five A*-C including English and maths

The number of Jersey students who achieved five GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and maths is up by 5%.

Jersey Premium

Data is available for the first time on the achievement of students who would have been eligible for Jersey Premium. It shows they are half as likely to achieve five GCSEs at A*-C grade. This underlines the need for the scheme and confirms the targeting is correct.

Improving standards for all remains the top priority for the Education Department.  You can find the full report here .
