Electoral Hustings to be Filmed
Monday 16 April 16:30
Hustings Start Tonight and Will be Filmed.
The hustings meetings for the forthcoming election start tonight at the Royal Jersey Showground. Arrangements have been made to film all of the hustings meetings for Senators, the two Connétables positions (St. Mary and St. Brelade) and Deputies.
The filming will be carried out by a professional production company on behalf of vote.je. Vote.je is independently managed by the States Greffe on behalf of the Privileges and Procedures Committee and provides information to the public about the elections. The meetings will be filmed and then uploaded to the vote.je website the following day.
Deputy Greffier Lisa Hart said “This will allow all Islanders to watch the hustings and find out more about the candidates’ views, even if they are unable to go along in person. We filmed the hustings for the first time during the 2014 elections and they proved really popular”.
Each hustings venue will be contacted in advance by the production company so that they can discuss the preferred location for the camera and any other equipment, as well as any other constraints or requirements. It is recognised that some members of the public may not wish to appear on film so at the beginning of each meeting those assembled will be asked if they are comfortable being filmed and, if they are not, then the camera will be fixed on the candidates only.
A full listing of all of the hustings dates and venues is available on vote.je.
