Election Candidates Encouraged to Upload Details onto VOTE.JE

Thursday 5 April 10:36

Are you considering standing for election as a States Member?

Nomination nights for Senators, Connétables and Deputies are next week but it is not too early to declare your intention to stand – the sooner you do so then you can start your election campaigning!

Vote.je is inviting all prospective candidates to post their contact details and photos on to the site now.

The site is a wealth of information about the elections. As well as explaining how to register and vote, it also provides information and support for candidates.

From noon on 13th April all of the candidates’ manifestos will be available on the site.

Vote.je will also film a short clip which will be uploaded to individual candidates’ pages. During March we asked the public what questions they would like candidates to answer and those standing for election will have the opportunity to answer some of these questions and present their answers to camera. The questions are now available to view at: https://www.vote.je/questions-to-candidates-2018

Candidates wishing to film a video should contact admin@vote.je to book a slot. Filming will take place between Monday 16th April to Wednesday 18th April 2018 at the States Greffe, Morier House, Halkett Place, St. Helier.

Deputy Greffier Lisa Hart said “If you are standing for the first time please make sure you keep the two weeks after the election free because if you are elected, you will be invited to attend an induction course between Monday 21st May and Friday 1st June run by States Greffe. We will offer advice and support to new members and provide an overview of all aspects of the work of the Assembly so that they can hit the ground running”.

The new States Assembly will be sworn in at 10.00am on Friday 1st June 2018 in the States Chamber.
