Digital Jersey’s Progress Update Highlights Achievements Through Collaboration

Friday 26 August 10:54

Digital Jersey has released a report on progress to date since its 2016 Business Plan was announced at the end of last year, with a renewed focus on collaboration and delivery.

Key achievements so far have included; evolving The Digital Hub’s offering, creating a new Industry Association team and corporate membership, launching a work permissions scheme for non-residents with vital digital skills, formalising partnerships with Tech UK, Tech City and Digital Catapult, hosting Jersey’s first ‘Fintech Unconference’, establishing joint proposition development groups with Jersey Finance, creating a Digital Health steering group and working with government on the Digital Policy Framework.

Tony Moretta, CEO of Digital Jersey, commented:

“In December 2015 we set out a more focussed direction for Digital Jersey, which included simplifying our objectives and separating out the The Digital Hub from the development of a strong industry association to better represent the voice of Jersey’s corporate digital sector.

We also identified those areas where we thought Jersey could build the strongest product propositions: namely fintech, Digital Health and testbed infrastructure (looking initially at IoT). To complement these, we set out areas we would work with Government on to create fertile ground in Jersey for technology businesses to thrive, and that has resulted in the development of their Digital Policy Framework. What I have been most pleased to see this year is Jersey beginning to fulfil its potential as one of the most collaborative places in the world, with Digital Jersey pulling together players from Government, Health, Finance, Telecoms, Infrastructure and many other areas to work together towards a truly digital Jersey.”
