Chief Executive 6 Month Report to States Assembly

Monday 9 July 14:10

States Chief Executive, Charlie Parker, has today circulated to all States Members a report of his first six months in post, as part of his drive to improve the transparency and accountability of the public service.

The report covers a wide variety of activities that Mr Parker has instigated, led or overseen during his first six months in charge of the States of Jersey. There is no formal requirement for Mr Parker to issue the report; he produced it for States Members, Ministers, States employees and the public in order to shine a light into the work of the Chief Executive.

Mr Parker said: “I have made clear from the start that the public service and those who lead it should be open and accountable for what we do. This report is a snapshot of my first six months, which I hope shows the wide range of interventions that I have initiated across the whole of the public services, and where I have delved deep into the organisation to take action on the most critical operational issues that we face.

“I understand that much of what I do is not immediately visible to employees, stakeholders and islanders, and I hope that this report will increase awareness about what is involved in leading the States of Jersey civil and public service and how I am driving the modernisation and culture change agenda to improve our government public services for islanders.”
