Candidate Manifestos Booklet to be Circulated Next Week
Friday 20 April 16:44
The vote.je Candidate Manifestos booklet will be circulated to 47,000 Island homes from Monday 23rd April 2018.
The 64 page booklet contains all the details of the 77 candidates seeking election, as well as material about the registration and voting process. For the first time it also includes pages in Polish, Portuguese and French so that all voters have access to information about how and where they can vote.
Deputy Greffier Lisa Hart said “We are really pleased that we’ve completed such a quick turn around on the booklets, especially when some candidates only had 2 days after nomination night to get their details to us at vote.je. I’m delighted that we will achieve our goal to have the booklets delivered across the Island well before pre–poll voting opens on 30th April at St Paul’s Centre.”
The only downside to having printed the booklets so speedily, is that the document was signed off for publication days before Marilyn Carré withdrew her bid to be Connétable of St Brelade.
“We have been the victims of our own success by getting the booklets printed so quickly” Lisa Hart said. “It has meant that we have had to produce a sticker for the front cover for the 4456 households in St. Brelade to explain that Mike Jackson has now been elected unopposed as their Connétable”.
There is another small error on page 59 in which it incorrectly states that voters in St. Saviour District 3 can vote for a maximum of 2 candidates when it should say one. This has also been remedied on the booklets going to homes in that Parish.
Households should receive copies of the booklets between Monday 23rd and Wednesday 25th April. The booklet does not contain the manifestos of the candidates who were elected unopposed. These can be viewed on the respective candidate’s page on vote.je.
