The Chamber of Commerce is pleased to release the results of first Opinion Poll of the year, particularly given the high response rate of 24%, which is good for this type of exercise. I would like to thank all members who took the time to submit their views.

We are mindful that this is our first survey of this kind; therefore whilst the results have interesting features, we should remember it is a first ‘snap shot’ at just one point in time and data will become more robust as trends are established through the further intended surveys. 

One trend though which is already coming through strongly is that many members are as yet undecided on some of the key political issues of this election year - the fact that so many have still to make their minds up makes the next six months even more important, and the results of the final two surveys will make interesting reading as members formulate views on the key issues facing them.

We will be conducting the next survey in June.
