Ambassador of the Philippines Undertakes Official Visit to Jersey

The Ambassador of the Philippines to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Antonio Lagdameo, his wife, and three accompanying officials are presently visiting Jersey (14 May 2017 – 16 May 2017).
The visit was arranged at the request of the Philippine Embassy to accompany the Consular Outreach Mission for the Filipino community in Jersey, which took place on Sunday (14 May 2017).
Government of Jersey Ministers and officials are using the opportunity provide the Ambassador, who took up office in February, with a general overview of Jersey, our constitutional position, society and culture, as well as to promote an understanding of our role as an international finance centre. The Ambassador also met yesterday with representatives from local businesses, Jersey Finance and Digital Jersey.
Before completing his visit today, Mr Lagdameo and his wife will be given a tour of Jersey Zoo and a demonstration of the ongoing work of the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, as well as a guided tour of La Hougue Bie alongside representatives of Jersey Heritage.
The Minister for External Relations, Senator Sir Philip Bailhache, said “I am delighted that His Excellency has decided to take the opportunity to visit Jersey early in his appointment. As well as being able to meet with the Filipino members of our community, I hope that he has an enjoyable and informative visit which provides him with a greater understanding of Jersey, our industries and our culture. I also hope that the relationship between us can continue to strengthen.”
