Highlands College Business Breakfast – The Ties that Bind : Friday 21 April

The Ties that Bind, a Highlands College business breakfast, presented by Advocate Christopher Austin, will be a discussion of the enforceability of restrictive covenants within the context of employment contracts, their potential advantages and pitfalls.

The presentation will be held in the Highlands College Academy Restaurant and will be an opportunity to network over a light breakfast, to be seated by 7.45am.

Christopher is an Advocate of the Royal Court and prior to this was called to the Bar of England and Wales as a barrister, non-practising, in 1996 before returning to Jersey and working as a lawyer in the litigation department of Bedell Cristin for over 13 years, gaining a very broad experience of contentious law, from personal law issues through to multi-jurisdictional commercial disputes valued in tens of millions of pounds.

In 2011 he founded Parslows with a former colleague and heads up the Dispute Resolution and Court Work Team. He advises and represents clients in Court on a very broad range of litigation matters, including trust, contractual and commercial disputes, shareholder and partnership issues, personal injury claims, injunctions, liquor licensing and criminal law issues and is a specialist in employment law. Prior to the introduction of the Discrimination (Jersey) Law 2013, he wrote the legal advice report for the scrutiny panel appointed to consider the draft law and is a member of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce Human Resources Committee.
