On February 16th 2018, Jersey’s version of GDPR legislation was registered at The Royal Court. The Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 and the Data Protection (Authority) Jersey Law 2018 will come into effect on 25th May 2018 and it will apply to all businesses based in Jersey.
As promised, Chamber is holding a follow-up briefing session two months ahead of the legislation becoming law that is designed to update our members on local GDPR requirements. Two expert speakers will provide guidance on how to ensure you are prepared and compliant ahead of the deadline.
Paul Vane, Acting Information Commissioner at the Office of the Information Commissioner, will begin the session by talking about the Law itself and highlighting particular areas relevant for SMEs. David Cartwright, Senior Consultant, Information Security at Grant Thornton will then offer a practical guide for businesses on the steps to take between now and May 25th.
The event will be particularly relevant to smaller businesses in the SME bracket and both Chamber Members and non-members are welcome. As always, Chamber Members will be entitled to discounted tickets and there will be plenty of opportunity to ask specific, direct questions to our speakers during the session and networking breaks.
